Interval Sitting Costume Black

“Interval Sitting” was modeled entirely by hand with red clay and represents a figure

Female seated with legs to one side, in costume. The contrast between the black on the torso, the red of the hair, and the color of the terracotta left natural creates a rhythm throughout the sculpture, while the sinuous forms accompany the gaze. Every detail has been taken care of to make “Interval Seating” a unique piece.

After modeling, the sculpture was fired at about 1000 degrees for about 10 hours, resulting in a warm and vibrant color. The satin matte finish was achieved by applying a wax patina to the colored parts while the rest of the figure did not undergo any treatment. Thus Seated Interval has low-reflective surfaces that allow light to envelop the figure by capturing light and giving soft, shaded shadows.

Particular care was taken in the creation of the hair, which was shaped to evoke the movement of the wind and painted a slight shade darker than the terracotta. The dress, on the other hand, is painted with an intense black that creates a pleasant contrast of natural tones in the overall figure.

The woman’s posture, with closed eyes and serene facial expression, conveys a sense of peace and expectation. “Seated Interval” is a terracotta sculpture created with sinuous and essential lines, few elements and careful modeling and finishing work, to tell the atmosphere of a waiting moment through the relaxed figure of a seated woman.
